JOHNSTON — Jesse Ernest Carroll, Jr., husband of 49 years to Glenda Carroll, died Friday, April 6, 2012 at his residence.
Funeral service was held on Monday, April 9, 2012 at 11 o’clock at James A. Dyal Funeral Home Chapel, Summerville. Burial followed at Live Oak Memorial Gardens, Charleston.
Mr. Carroll was born April 22, 1938 in Charleston County, son of the late Jesse and Susan Winn Carroll. He was a graduate of St. Paul’s High School. He served in the United States Army and the Army Reserves. He was past member of the Omar Shrine, Mason and Scottish Rite. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and repairing equipment. He was a retired Superintendent for Charleston Sheet Metal & Roofing, Inc. and Davis Ware Inc.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are two sons: LCDR Richard E. Carroll, USN and his wife LeeAnn Carroll of Hubert, NC, and William Glen Carroll and his wife Kathie G. Carroll of Edgefield, SC, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren, one sister: Genevieve “Janie” Jones and her husband John R. Jones of North Charleston, one sister-in-law: Wilma Carroll of North Carolina. He was predeceased by his parents, his brothers and sisters: Willard Carroll, James Ernest Carroll, Robert Carroll, Louise Pellum, Eliza Ayer Harley, Jeanette Harley and Mildred Miller. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
