PENDLETON, S.C. – Cecil Hunter Padgett, 81, of Pendleton, passed away on Friday, September 27, 2013.
Mr. Padgett was born in Edgefield, SC, a son of the late Farrell and Emmie Bledsoe Padgett. He was retired from Mayfair Mills, having worked in both the Glenwood and Pickens plants. He served two terms as councilman for the town of Pendleton, helped to organize the Pendleton Rescue Squad, was a veteran of the Navy Reserves and a member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Martha Zelma Chalker Padgett; two sons, A. W. (Tony) Padgett, of Jacksonville FL. and Mark Padgett and his wife Renee, of Elberton, GA; two brothers Carroll Padgett of Jacksonville, FL, and Bonny Padgett, of Middleburg, FL; one sister, Nina Gunnels of Peachtree City, GA; two grandchildren Brett Thomas Padgett and his wife Corrie, and Ashley Padgett and a great grandson, Cooper Padgett. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother Heyward Padgett.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 1, 2013, at 11:00 A. M. in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, Central, with burial to follow in Memory Gardens, Clemson.
The family will receive friends at their home, 105 Canterbury Rd. Pendleton, SC following the services.
