CLEARWATER, S.C. – Mr. Lawrence “Larry” Murphy, 75, husband of Mrs. Betty Wheeler Murphy, entered into rest on Thursday, August 22, 2013.
Surviving with his wife, Betty Wheeler Murphy are two children, Tina Johnson (Rob), Knoxville, TN and Patrick Murphy (Jacquerlyn), North Augusta; brothers, Billy Murphy (Patricia), Aiken, Charles Murphy (Laura), Edgefield and Tom Murphy (Judy), North Augusta and Kenneth Murphy (Maylan), Edgefield and three grandchildren.
Mr. Murphy was born in New York City, New York to the late William A. and Eleanor Gingrey Murphy. He retired from South Eastern Stages with 30 years of service. He was a US Navy Veteran. He was a member of Clearwater First Baptist Church. Loving to volunteer and serve his community, Larry served on the Aiken County School Board, Aiken County Council, Valley Public Service Authority, the Horse Creek Valley Veterans Memorial Park and the American Legion.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 1 p.m. at Clearwater First Baptist with Rev. John Bolin officiating. Interment : Graniteville Cemetery.
The family will greet friends on Sunday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Hatcher Funeral Home and Cremation Service, U.S. No. 1, Langley, SC.
