Dear Editor:
In case you haven’t noticed when traveling between Johnston and Trenton on Hwy 121, across from the recycling plant, about 100 acres have been noted for rezoning from agricultural to industrial. in a phone call to the Edgefield Planning Dept., when I asked what industry was building there, they told me they couldn’t discuss that information. HOWEVER, rumor has it that a WOOD PELLET MANUFACTURING PLANT intends to build there. Persons that attended the meeting on July 25th got the impression that the Commission was looking out for a special interest group and as far as the community was concerned it was a DONE DEAL. What can we look forward to. Noise pollution (building the facility) noise pollution after that, air pollution, increased truck traffic and probably a railroad spur. Do we really need that?
