CHERAW, S.C. – James “Jim” Wellington Galletly, 76, died Friday, June 28, 2013 in Raleigh, N.C.. Born in Columbia, S.C., he was the son of the late Wellington Oakman and Celestia Elizabeth Hunter Galletly. He was married to the late Janis Anne Wilkerson Galletly.
He attended Clemson University and The University of South Carolina, earning a Bachelor’s Degree, majoring in Business Administration from Clemson. He was a member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. He was a member of St. David’s Episcopal Church, where he was a member of the Vestry. Jim was also a member of the Lion’s Club.
He was a huge fan of Clemson University, his church, bird watching, beach trips, and any adventure. He loved his family, his grandson Will, especially taking them to Lake Norman for boating and skiing.
Surviving is his daughter, Anne Galletly Lasley of Raleigh, N.C.; grandson, William Robert McKinney of Raleigh, N.C.; and special friend Sally Norris of Cheraw, SC.. He was preceded in death by his wife and parents listed above and a son, Robert Wellington Galletly.
The family will receive friends 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at Old St. David’s Church. A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at Old St. David’s Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
