GREEN SEA, S.C. – Roscoe Strickland, 96 husband of 67 years to the late Nina Buffkin Strickland, passed away April 4, 2013 in Lexington, S.C.
Born October 9, 1916, in Horry County, he was the son of the late Hybert and Lucy Strickland, retired farmer, avid fisherman and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. He was a very devoted husband, father, brother, loved his dog Maggie and his cats.
Surviving are his daughters, Judy (Harold) Causey of Lexington, Debbie (John) Cheatham of Edgefield; grandchildren, Michael (Jana) and Mark Causey, Wes, Trish, and Drew Cheatham; great-grandsons Gaven and Grayson Causey; sisters, Mary (Tennie) Phillips of Holly Ridge, NC, Pinkie Wilson of Cerro Gordo, NC, brother, Howard Strickland of Jacksonville, FL, and numerous nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by sisters, Sissy, Betty, Essie, Eunice, and brothers, Joseph, Ollie, and Wallie.
Graveside services were held Monday, April 8, at 1:00 pm at Riverside Cemetery, Nichols, SC, conducted by Rev. Jerry Thomas Phillips. The family received friends at the cemetery for one hour prior to the service.
