A total of 11 vehicles were reported broken into from the Pine Ridge Country Club community according to the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office. The thefts are suspected to have occurred sometime between late night Jan. 12 and early morning Jan. 13. Those vehicles were located at homes on Estates Drive, Pine Ridge Road, Woodridge Road, and Country Club Road in the community. Many of the cars were merely ransacked and rummaged through. Several of them had been left unlocked. However, at least one handgun, a checkbook, and an undisclosed amount of money was taken. The handgun is described as a silver North American Arms 22 caliber 5 shot pistol with wood grips. Only three of the vehicles reported damage; in one the glove compartment door was damaged to the point it would no longer close and two others had their drivers’ windows broken out in attempts to gain entry.
The ECSO is investigating these crimes.
