A deceased body was found in Edgefield County Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 10, on Sandy Springs Road off Mt. Zion Road – in the Trenton area.  According to the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office, the body was sent to Newberry for an autopsy .

Authorities identified the body as Dakota M. Calhoun, 25, of North Augusta.  Calhoun died of a gunshot wound to the head.  No other information was being released until recently when the death was designated a homicide.  This is now an ongoing, active investigation of a murder.
