The Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office was advised by the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office, Thursday, Nov, 3, that the ACSO along with the SC Law Enforcement Division were chasing a stolen vehicle when the chase led into Edgefield County.  An ECSO incident report on the matter details how during the chase the vehicle which was being pursued, a black Chevrolet Tahoe, was involved in a wreck at the intersection of Hwy 121 and SC Hwy 191.  Other vehicles were involved in this accident and property damage did occur.  As such, SC Highway Patrol was called to that scene.

The driver of the pursued vehicle fled the scene into nearby woods.  However, a juvenile, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was apprehended at the scene.  The ECSO, the Johnston Police Department as well as the bloodhound team with the ECSO responded to the scene.

The fleeing driver was eventually apprehended in the woods.  During the apprehension, a .38 caliber revolver was recovered.  The suspect was transported to the Edgefield County Detention Center where it was discovered that he is a convicted felon and, as such, is prohibited from possessing or acquiring a handgun in SC.

During the detainment of the juvenile, a glass “meth” pipe with a white residue inside was found in his possession.  Also confiscated from the juvenile was a clear plastic vile that had a white residue inside and a small cloth bag inside of which was a small plastic bag containing a white residue, two smaller bags containing a white residue, and a pair of small metal scissors.  All of this evidence was collected and turned over to the narcotics division of the ECSO.

Warrants are pending for the unlawful carrying of a pistol and possession of stolen property on Dominique Johnson, 25 of Ridge Spring, for his involvement in this incident.  Additionally, Johnson also has outstanding warrants from other jurisdictions.  The legal guardians of the juvenile were contacted, and he was turned over to Aiken County.

It was discovered the juvenile was a missing runaway from Aiken County.
