Guns Stolen From Vehicle
The Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 3400 block of Hwy 19 in Trenton, Friday, Sept. 9, to find a vehicle that had been broken into. According to the ECSO report, the owner of the vehicle discovered a window to the vehicle had been broken out by a starter which was still located inside the vehicle. The victim then noticed that a bag of loose change containing approximately $300 as well as a 20 gauge Remington shotgun, a 22 rifle, a battery jump box, and a Tom Tom GPS unit were missing from the vehicle. The missing items were listed to be worth over $1,000 and the cost of the damage to the vehicle was estimated to be $200.
The ECSO is investigating this crime.
Pigs Plunder Patch
A resident of the 200 block of Sweetwater Creek Drive in North Augusta (Edgefield County) reported to the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office, Wednesday, Sept. 14, that two pigs running loose in his neighborhood had eaten up his sweet potato plants. The man stated to the responding deputy that he did not know to whom the pigs belonged, but patrolling the area, the deputy was able to locate two loose pigs near another residence on Sweetwater Drive. As the deputy was out with the pigs, a man stopped and informed the deputy that the pigs belonged to him. Both pigs were put securely back into their pen, and the owner was issued a warning for animals at large. The victim did not wish to press charges for the damages to his potatoes.
Electricity Theft Results in Charges
A serviceman with Aiken Electric Cooperative reported to the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office, Tuesday, Sept. 13, that a resident of Rolling Hills Court was illegally using power and had tampered with the electrical meter on her property. According to the ECSO on the matter, the resident admitted to turning the power on when she came home to find it out one night but stated that she had every intention of disconnecting it in the morning.
The resident now faces a $200 charge from the Electric Company as well as other fees based on the amount of usage. In addition, she was charged with tampering with an electrical meter/box and theft of electricity.
