The Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office responded to two calls regarding stolen items during the early morning hours of Wednesday, June 8.  The first call was to Scott Mims Grading Company on the Hwy 25 Bypass.  Law enforcement was told by the victim that he was notified by an Edgefield City Police Officer that the gate to his property was open.  Upon arriving at the scene, the victim found that the lock to the gate had been cut.  He also found that a truck, trailer, and excavator, all belonging to a second victim, were missing.  The truck is described as a red 1996 Ford F450.  The 1999 Bobcat X331 Excavator was loaded onto the 20 foot 7 ton Horton Hauler.  All three were estimated to be worth $22,000.  No suspects were identified, but pictures were taken and possible evidence found.

In the second theft, law enforcement was called to Wind Road.  There they were told by that victim that he had hired two brothers to do work on his bathroom.  However, the victim said that during the work process, the two demanded more money, but the victim refused to give them any more.  At that point, one of the brothers reportedly pushed the victim against a wall while the other took the keys to the victim’s truck.  The brothers were said to have told the victim that they were taking the truck as payment.  The victim stated that he was later told by a friend that the two had stated they were going to burn the truck when they were done with it.  The truck is described as a white 1998 Ford F-150 extended cab and was said to have an asphalt tank and other equipment in the back.  The truck was valued at $6,500.

The ECSO issued a BOLO for all these stolen items.  Additionally, the ECSO is continuing to investigate these thefts.
