Dr. Jerry Mitchell of USC (far left, front row) was guiding a group of teachers who are interested in Geographic Education, as they call it. They move from town to city to investigate the people and what they do and what is happening in the towns. Then they bring this to their classrooms. In Edgefield they went to see the work of the local Old Edgefield Potter. They were also noting Edgefield’s history as they roamed the square. Then they had lunch and were off to the NWTF Museum. They were impressed with the turkeys spread about town. When asked why they all wear yellow, Dr. Mitchell replied, “So I can easily spot everyone.”
