The SC Department of Transportation has closed two roads in the north side of Edgefield County; Timmerman Road, which is off of Hwy 25 North, and Virgil Wall Road. According to Edgefield County EMA Director Suzy Spurgeon, who spoke with The Advertiser, Wednesday, Dec. 30, residents of the roads are not being affected, however, the roads are too muddy for through traffic. As for how Edgefield County is fairing with the rains, Spurgeon said, “So far, we are doing good.” Spurgeon confirmed that the county is under a flood warning, but that no other roads or bridges have been closed. Spurgeon said that currently the heavier rains are north of Edgefield County. There, McCormick County is currently under a flash flood warning.
EMA is continuing to monitor the conditions across Edgefield County. The Advertiser will post closings, if any, as they become available.
