May 26, 2015 – The bridge at Garrett Road in Clarks Hill (Edgefield County) is currently closed due to construction. According to a spokesperson with the construction company in charge of the project who spoke to The Advertiser, work on the bridge began May 5 and is scheduled to be completed around the end of September of this year.
Unlike some bridges in Edgefield County which have been replaced or repaired by using parts from other bridges in the state, the old bridge at Garrett Road will be totally removed, and a completely new bridge will be constructed in its place.
This project is currently in its demolition stage. Detour signs are in place to re-route traffic around the bridge. The bridge will not be reopened until work on it is completely finished.
