A Johnston man was stabbed in the chest Friday afternoon, Apr. 10, at the parking lot of the old industrial site on Star Road in Edgefield. The victim was transported to Georgia Regents Hospital in Augusta for treatment of his injuries. An Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson described those injuries as serious but said that the victim is now stable and expected to recover.

According to the ECSO, early indications are that the stabbing stemmed from an altercation the previous day in which a gun was pulled on someone. That incident lead to an argument Friday at the aforementioned location that resulted in the stabbing.

The suspect in this case, a twenty-one year old Edgefield man, has been charged with attempted murder. He has been arrested and is being held at the Edgefield County Detention Center.
