The Edgefield County Republican Party has invited Representative William D. “Bill” Clyburn (D) to be the speaker at their next meeting scheduled for Tuesday, August 26 at the Edgefield County Council chambers. Mr. Clyburn has been in the legislature since 1994 and represents Aiken, Edgefield and Saluda Counties. He will be updating those in attendance about the past legislative session and issues effecting South Carolina. Republican chairman Rodney Ashcraft said, “We are pleased that Representative Clyburn has accepted our invitation and we hope all interested citizens will join us on August 26.”
The invitation to Clyburn is in response to the Democrats inviting Sen. Massey to their meeting, a successful one that gave an opportunity for both Parties to “come together,” unlike the Washington, D.C., example of polarized Parties.
The public is invited to a social beginning at 7:15, with Representative Clyburn speaking at 7:30. Members of the Republican Party will have a business meeting at 6:30 p.m.
