JOHNSTON, S.C. – Virginia Marie Brown of 55 Partridge Drive, died Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at her home. She was born in Edgefield to the late Virgil and Inez Jackson Brown. She was a member of Republican Grove Baptist Church where she was a faithful member.
She graduated from W.E.Parker High School Class of 1964 and attended South Carolina State College. Diddy, as her family and friends called her, was employed at Savannah River Plant for 22 years until her retirement in 2010.She was awarded numerous awards there for her work ethic and dedication.
Left to cherish her memories are: her loving son, Phillip M. Brown of Chicago, Ill.; four brothers Virgil Brown(Mel) of Aiken, Johnny Mack Brown(Renee) of Trenton, William Singleton(Brenda) and Robert Singleton, all of Edgefield; five sisters, Betty J. Brown of Johnston, Geraldine Singleton, Dorothy Singleton and Lacy Singleton, all of Edgefield and Doris Knight (Robert) of Johnston; three aunts, Evelyn and Deloris Jackson of Boston, Mass., Edna Jackson of Edgefield and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, at Republican Grove Baptist Church conducted by Pastor Willie Patten, Jr. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. The family is at the home. Butler and Sons Funeral Home of Saluda is assisting the Brown Family.
