The Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home on Hwy 19, Wednesday, May 7, in response to stolen copper.
According to the ECSO report, the victim was checking the home when he found an ammunition can near the crawl space of the home. Inside of the can were sockets to a wrench. The victim stated that upon finding these items, he looked around inside the residence and noticed where the duct work for the dryer had pulled under the house. Looking under the house, the victim said he found where copper had been removed. The victim estimated the cost of the copper and the damage to be $2,000.
Evidence was collected from the scene, and this incident, as well as another that occurred at the end of April at this same location involving the theft of two HVAC units, is being investigated by the ECSO.
