JACKSON, S.C. – James Ira Ussery, age 80, entered into rest on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at his residence. Funeral services will be held April 5, 2014 at 11:00 at Open Bible Baptist Church of Beech Island, SC 14447 Atomic Road with Pastor Dan Hill officiating. The family will receive friends at the church 1 hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Jackson Memorial Cemetery.
James was born in Williston, SC but had made Jackson his home for the last 50 years.
He was a son of the late James Pleasant and Carrie Hall Ussery. He retired from Colonial Bread and was affectionately known as “the Bread Man”. James was a member of Open Bible Baptist Church.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 55 years, Barbara Griffin Ussery; four daughters: Debra Hewett (Bruce), Lisa McCormick (John), Lynda Edwards (Mark) and LeeAnn Horton (Bill); nine grandchildren: Jordan Hewett, Jonathan McCormick, Tabatha Price, Devlyn McCormick, Austin Hathcock, Alex Edwards, Adam Edwards, Joshua Horton and Krysta Horton. He was predeceased by a brother: William (Bill) Ussery.
