The teachers of the Strom Thurmond Career and Technology Center (STCTC) selected students for each program who excelled during the second nine weeks. The students were chosen by their teachers based on their academic performance, work ethic and attitudes. “It is great to be recognized for my hard work,” said Gabriela Waldo, Business Management Administration student.  “What we learn is interesting and I love my teachers and helping people added DeVasha Blacks.

Students at the STCTC are developing career skills to prepare them for the world of work. “The business people and employers I am speaking to in our community are stressing “soft skills” in addition to the specific training the CTC provides more and more,” explained Arthur Northrop, STCTC director. Soft skills involve a person developing the proper work attitudes, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work with others” The students at the STCTC get the opportunity to develop those skills with the numerous hands-on projects in the classroom and through the CTC’s student organizations.
