The third suspect in the armed robbery that occurred Nov.11 at Sportsman’s Corner has been captured. According to a spokesperson with the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office who spoke to the Advertiser, Rashwan Hairstom was caught in Greensboro, NC, by the Greensboro Police Department, Tuesday, Nov. 29. The two other suspects in this crime, Khalid Edward Cochran, II, 27, of Greensboro, NC, and Kiana Nicole Dorty, 21, of Salisbury, NC, were taken into custody near the scene on the night of the crime shortly after their get-away car crashed. However, Hairstom fled from law enforcement after the crash and had been on the run until he was captured.
Cochran and Dorty are currently being held in the Edgefield County Detention Center on charges of armed robbery, possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime, and possession of stolen property. Charges for armed robbery, Burglary 1st, and possession of stolen property were sought against Hairstom after the armed robbery. However, it may be a while before he is extradited to Edgefield County, according to the ECSO spokesperson. That is because Hairstom faces several felony charges in North Carolina. It is expected he will face prosecution for those crimes before he is returned to South Carolina. Additionally, North Carolina authorities also have charges pending against Cochran and Dorty. They are expected to be returned to North Carolina after they are prosecuted here for their involvement in the armed robbery at Sportsman’s Corner.
