An accident that happened Wednesday evening, Oct. 12, shortly after 7:00, caused multiple power outages in the town of Edgefield. According to an Edgefield City Police Department report, a seventy-five-year-old man was traveling south on Moragne Street when he fell asleep, left the road, and struck a light pole causing the transformer to blow. The blown transformer resulted in power outages within the town that were reported to have lasted from thirty minutes to a couple of hours.
The driver of the vehicle, who was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident, had no visible injuries but was transported by EMS to the Edgefield County Hospital.
