Peggy Ayers Smith, 88, wife of the late Travis Grant Smith died Tuesday February 9, 2016 in Columbia, SC.

Graveside services will be held Friday February 12, 2016 at 3 PM at Sunset Gardens Memorial Cemetery in Edgefield, SC. The family will receive friends before the service from 1:30 to 2:30 PM at Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home.

Mrs. Smith was born in Hart County GA. She was retired as a supervisor from Riegel Textile after 29 years and was a member of Edgefield First Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher and as a member of the Cleola Tompkins Bible Study Group.

Survivors include 2 sons, Jerry Travis (Ann) Smith of Aiken, SC and William (Bill) Grant (Gloria) Smith of Prosperity, SC; 7 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; a sister Betty Seymour of Hartwell, Ga., a brother Rollin Ayers of Snellville, Ga. She was predeceased by a daughter, Pamela Smith Bledsoe; brothers, Curtis Ayers and Edward Ayers; sisters Mary Jo Bowen, Patsy Sanford and Jackie Hilley.
