Tim and Emily Campbell recently donated 900 aces of land in Western North Carolina to the National Turkey Federation. The land is located in Graham County and is part of the lower Yellow Creek Valley. The site is under a conservation easement and is surrounded by the Nantahala National Forest.
NWTF CEO George Thornton, who spoke with The Advertiser regarding the donation, called the Campbell’s “very generous people”. He went on to say that this donation fits well with the NWTFs overall purpose of “expanding the footprint started in Edgefield into other states”. Thornton said that the NWTF plans to develop the land for recreation, fishing, and education purposes. However, the site will probably not be used for hunting as Thornton explained it is not suitable for that. The site will be administered by the North Carolina chapter of the NWTF, and, as with all NWTF properties, is open to all NWTF members.
