The Edgefield Community Development Association (ECDA) invites everyone to Home for the Holidays by enjoying our “Christmas is for Kids” on the Square in Historic Edgefield on Saturday, December 12, 2015.
Activities begin at 11:00 a.m. with Santa on the square for photo opportunities and to listen to wish-list from the kids. The W.E. Parker Chorus will be singing Christmas songs (11:00 a.m.) and the Timmerman Dance Company will be performing (11:30 a.m.). Beginning at 1:00 p.m. Hal Irish will read “The Night before Christmas”. Edgefield’s Poet Laureate, Laurel Blossom and Youth Poet Laureate, Camara Brown, will be reading “The Three Kings,” “King John’s Christmas,” and “Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus.”
Holiday music will be playing on the square and snow falling at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Don’t forget to shop in our own unique merchants for great gift ideas you won’t find any other place! At noon, you’ll find carolers and musicians serenading you as you dine in our wonderful restaurants! The Springfield Baptist Church Youth Group will be performing special sounds of the season around town.
To further share the heritage of Edgefield, The Edgefield Clay Studio will treat the kids to making their own pinch pots – what a wonderful experience!
Return to Edgefield on Sunday, December 13th for the Tour of Churches at 3:00 p.m. The walking tour begins at St. Mary’s Catholic Church revealing the news to Mary that she will give birth to Jesus Christ. The tour proceeds to Edgefield First Baptist Church, Trinity Episcopal Church, and Edgefield Methodist Church as the story of the true meaning of the season unfolds. The tour ends at Magnolia Dale, home of the Edgefield Historical Society, with a fabulous reception.
Bring family, neighbors, and friends as this day will create memories of a life time. Don’t miss out – this is the second in a series of unique Saturdays/Sundays in December! For additional information, please contact Theresa McMullin, President ECDA at 803-480-0126.
