EDGEFIELD, S.C. – Melvin S. (Perk) Shaffer, Jr., 86, husband of the late Nell Shaffer, died Tuesday November 3, 2015 at Forest View Manor. Graveside services will be held Thursday November 5, 2015 at 2 PM at McKendree United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mr. Shaffer was born in Edgefield County. He was a U. S. Marine veteran and was retired from Milliken Company as a mechanic.Survivors include 1 son Richard (Wendi) Shaffer; 2 daughters Gayle (Philip) Dorn, Cissy (Merlin) Penner; 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son Terry Shaffer.

The family is at the home of Lauren Enloe on Main St. in Edgefield and will receive friends after the service at the cemetery.

Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
