NEWBERRY, S.C. – Funeral Services for Mrs. Sylvia Woodard Adams, 79, who entered into rest October 15, 2015, will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 3 o’clock from the Posey Funeral Chapel. Father David F.O. Thompson officiating. A private family interment in Republican Baptist Church Cemetery will follow.

Mrs. Adams was a native of Edgefield County, having made Newberry her home for the past 30 years. She was true pioneer for women in radio, having worked as one of the first female DJ’s at WFNL and later worked at WBBQ. Additionally, she worked as an RN for many years. Mrs. Adams was an avid rock collector, enjoyed reading and was a published author.

Survivors include her husband of 30 years Dick Adams; two sons, Milton R. Smith, Jr., Clarks Hill, SC and Russell Adams, Newberry, SC; a daughter and son-in-law, Jamie and Brian Harvey, Florence, SC; two grandchildren, Addison Harvey and Jennifer Cloy; two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
