An Edgefield County man was allegedly shot at after he attempted to admonish another driver for dangerous driving. According to an Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office report on the matter, the victim was driving north on Edgefield Road near Maxwell Drive in Trenton, Tuesday evening, Aug. 25, when he observed another vehicle driving recklessly. The report states that as the man pulled along side of the other vehicle, he saw that the driver of that vehicle was texting. In response, the man blew his horn at the texting driver and yelled at him to stop texting while driving. At that rebuke, the other driver allegedly pulled a hand gun and fired a shot at his admonisher. The shooter then sped off at what was described as a high rate of speed toward Trenton.
The shooter in this incident is described as a black male in his mid 20s with dreadlocks. The vehicle is listed as a red late 80s or early 90s model Honda.
The victim in this incident was unharmed, however, he did show responding law enforcement a dent on his vehicle believed to possibly have been where the bullet ricocheted. The damage to the vehicle was described as minor.
