RIDGE SPRING, S.C. – Edwin Loadholt Platts, 89, of Ridge Spring, S.C., died on Sunday, December 21, at Lexington Medical Center. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, December 23 at Ridge Spring Baptist Church at 12:00 noon. Visitation will be from 10:30 -12:00 at the church. Burial will follow at the Ridge Spring Cemetery with Masonic Rites.
Mr. Platts was born on September 24, 1925. He was the son of the late Robert Edwin and Pearl Loadholt Platts of Fairfax, South Carolina. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-five years Doris Trotter Platts, threes sons: Eddie (Elaine) Platts of Denmark, Tom (Sandy) Platts of Ridge Spring, David (Ron) Platts of Lancaster. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. He was predeceased by one brother James Harold Platts, and three sisters: Roberta Platts, Evelyn Dean, Dorothy Cone, and a twin sister Elinor Crews.
Ed retired from the United States Postal Service, serving twenty-six years as postmaster in Ridge Spring. He was an active member of Ridge Spring Baptist Church where he served as a long time Sunday school teacher, deacon, and served on many committees. He was a retired volunteer fireman, a member of the American Legion, and a Free Mason. He was known around the state by many as “The Peach Man.”
