The BP gas station on Hwy 25 in Edgefield was robbed a little after 8:00 Monday night, Nov. 24. According to Edgefield Chief of Police Ronnie Carter, two unidentified black males entered the store when the clerk was mopping for the night and ordered her to give them money. At least one of the robbers was armed, carrying a shotgun, and he hit the clerk in the side of the head at some point in the robbery. After taking the cash out of the register and grabbing packs of cigarettes, the culprits fled the store. They crossed over to the station’s truck parking lot where they apparently had a getaway car waiting for them in which they fled the scene. While they successfully made off with the cash, the two dropped the cigarettes outside the store during their escape.
The suspects in this case are described as being about 5’ 8” to 6’ tall and wearing camouflage and ski masks. There was no description available for the getaway vehicle.
EMS was called to the scene to assess the clerk, but her injuries did not require transport to the hospital.
The Edgefield City Police Department is investigating this crime. Anyone with information is asked to call 637-4014.
