The Edgefield County Alliance will hold its next meeting – Tuesday September 16, 2014 at 8:00 a.m. in the County Council Building (behind the Courthouse) 225 Jeter Street, Edgefield. Light refreshments will be served.
Realizing that communication across the County is very diverse, the major focus for this meeting is to begin the process of establishing a network for communicating and connecting citizens in all 5 districts. Each of the five districts’ County Council member will attend and/or send a representative from their district. This is an important step in establishing lines of communication for sharing information with the citizens and in getting information from the citizens that help shape the future of Edgefield County.
This year’s ice storm reminds us of the need to plan before an emergency occurs. While there are Emergency Management Plans in place, there were issues which our citizens experienced that need attention. Whatever emergency we face as a community, citizen involvement is an important factor in identifying needs, resources and planning to be better prepared to meet those needs.
There are other issues facing our County and this is just the beginning. Our desire is to establish community groups in each district. Everyone can play an important role in this process and should be involved.
We invite everyone to attend and bring a friend. Please RSVP so we can plan accordingly.
