TRENTON, S.C. – Memorial Services for Mrs. Sylvia McElmurray Norris, 78, of Trenton, SC, who entered into rest July 29, 2014, will be conducted Saturday morning at 11 o’clock at the Harmony United Methodist Church, Johnston, SC. Rev. Steven Keck officiating.
Mrs. Norris was a native Beech Island, reared in Aiken, having made Trenton her home for the past 30 years. She was a member of the St. John’s Methodist Church in Aiken and was retired from the state of South Carolina as a social worker with 30 years of service. Mrs. Norris was a loving wife and mother and a wonderful grandmother to her grandchildren. She was very generous and giving in all she did and was a diehard Clemson fan. Mrs. Norris was preceded in death by her parents, James Herndon and Carrie Graybill McElmurray; a brother, Nicholas McElmurray; a son, Charles Wayne Screeton, Jr., and a granddaughter, Jennifer Teuton.
Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Harold Norris; three sons and daughters-in-law, James Paul and Vicki Screeton, Hendersonville, TN, Ronald Dean and Angie Norris, North Augusta, James Raymond “Jim” Norris, North Augusta; two daughters, Tanya Figueroa, Trenton, Teresa Ann Teuton, Graniteville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Herndon and Lebby McElmurray, Johns Island, SC, Graybill Warren and Jane McElmurray, Clemson, SC; two sisters and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Brownie Williams, Aiken, Florence McElmurray, Aiken; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
