SALUDA, S.C. – Graveside services for Mrs. Delilah Jennings Adams Batten, age 88, were held Sunday, July 13, 2014 at Travis Park Cemetery at 4 pm. The family received friends at the gravesite following the service.
Mrs. Batten was peacefully called home by her Lord and Savior on the same day he brought her into the world 88 years prior, July 8, 2014. “Mrs. Lila” was a faithful member of Red Bank Baptist Church in Saluda where she devoted time to the Sunshine Club and many activities of the church. She loved her flowers and tended to a beautiful yard as many seasons as she was able. A wonderful Southern Cook, she was known for her BBQ pulley bones, yellow potatoes and amazing pound cakes. She worked hard in the “shirt plant” and admirably educated herself to be the accountant for her late husband’s (Claude R. Batten) body shop. Loved by her family and her community, Delilah was laid to rest beside her first husband, Jack D. Adams.
Mrs.Delilah was “Moma” to two loving children, David C, Adams, Sr. (Debbie) and Lynn A Saverance;“ Grandmoma” to four grandchildren, Kim R. Westbury (George), Brandon Severance (Lora), Dr. David C. Adams, Jr., and Brandi A. French (Andy) and great-grandmother of four.
Memorials may be made to Red Bank Baptist Church, 309 E. Church St, Saluda, SC 29138.
