CONCORD, N.C. – Toni Turner Fennell Hauver passed away, Thursday, May 29, 2014, at Tucker Hospice House surrounded by her family. A memorial service to celebrate Toni’s life was held Saturday, June 7, at 11 a.m., at All Saints Episcopal Church, Lake Concord Road, with Reverend Reggie Payne-Wiens officiating.
Toni was born February 21, 1939, in Johnston, S.C., to the late William Wallace Turner, Jr., and Jacqueline A. Derrick. She was also preceded in death by her grandparents, Elberta Bland Turner (“Mama”) and William Wallace Turner, Sr., who raised her, and Uncle Albert Turner (known by Toni as her “brother”), and cousin, Marion Turner. Toni was married for 30 years to the love of her life, William Mac Fennell. They had three children and lived in many places until they planted their roots in Concord, N.C. She then moved to Surfside Beach, S.C for 17 years. Five of the 17 years she was married to Ron Hauver until his death on May 18, 2000. It was then she returned to Concord to live out her golden years with her girls and grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Audrey Mitchell and husband Tim of Nederland, Tex.; Beverly F. Worley and husband David of Harrisburg, N.C., Hollis F. Weisel and husband Mark of Concord, N.C; five grandchildren, Lauren and Adrian, Jessica, Hayden and Grant; brothers, Donald Warriner of Los Angeles, Cal., and William Wallace (Bill) Turner, III, of Johnston.
