George Long, who is married to Edgefield native Ann Turner Long, is a retired Air Force officer. He and Anne live in Woodland Park, Colorado, and share their domain with bears and cougars. This photo is evidence of the kinds of visitors they have at night.
In a recent email from George to our local naturalist, Gene Smith, he sent the photo of the cougar and titled it “neighborhood stalker.” And George noted that the cat was still hanging around. Gene’s final comment, by email, was: “I don’t think I’d go out at night to tinkle in the petunias if I lived in Woodland.”
