EDGEFIELD, S.C. – Mrs. Odessa Ouzts Cook, 101, widow of Edwin David (Ed) Cook died Monday March 31, 2014. She was a lifelong resident of Edgefield County and lived the past several years at Trinity Mission Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was a member of the Edgefield Church of God.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, April 4, at Friendship Pentecostal Holiness Church on Highway 178 in Greenwood, with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 2:00 p. m. to 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
She was born November 7, 1912 in Edgefield, S. C. She is the daughter of the late Daniel Bell Ouzts and Minnie Alice Woods Ouzts.
Death had a momentary victory as she passed from this world into the heavenly realms in the presence of the Eternal Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Never again will Odessa Cook know discouragement or sorrow or weakness. She is safe. She is home. All her hopes and expectations are present realities beyond all she could ever dream or imagine. No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him”. Her life is just beginning.
She is survived by two sons, Kenneth Ray Cook (Dot) of Charleston and Frank Keith Cook (Janice) of Ninety Six.: nine grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren and one great great grandson and one sister Dorothy Mixon Wofford of Johnston. She is predeceased by one son Gerald Darwin Cook.
