A ten months old miniature paint pony was attacked and killed by dogs at a residence on Slide Hill Road in Johnston, Saturday, Apr. 19. According to a report filed by the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office, the homeowner said that three dogs of undetermined breeds have been attacking and biting horses in her pasture in the past. On Saturday morning, when a man went to check on the horses, he found two dogs attacking the young pony in the barn. The man shot both dogs. The homeowner was able to provide descriptions of all three dogs previously seen on the property attacking her horses, and the dogs that were shot matched the description of two of those dogs. A dog matching the third dog’s description was located unsecured on the front porch of a neighboring home. Deputies were unable to make contact with that homeowner and have yet to determine the owner of the dogs. This incident has been forwarded to ECSO’s Animal Control for further investigation .
