The Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office arrested a convicted Florida sex offender who was living at a residence on Tanglewood Drive in Trenton earlier in the week of Feb. 24. According to an ECSO report, deputies were actually responding to a compliant issued by the man regarding a civil matter when they routinely ran his information through the county’s dispatch center. It was at that point that authorities were alerted that there are outstanding warrants in Florida for the man’s arrest for having failed to register as a sex offender. The original charge in Florida that led to the man having to register with the list was sex against child/fondling-lewd and lascivious act in the presence. The ECSO also learned that the suspect has two prior convictions for failure to register.
The 47 year-old suspect, of Tanglewood Drive, was arrested and charged with Sex Offender Registry Violation 3rd. If convicted of this charge, the suspect will face a mandatory sentence of three years but could possibly be sentenced up to five years.
While he is currently in the Edgefield County Detention Center, he has resided at the aforementioned address since at least February of 2012.
