EDGEFIELD, S.C. – Mr. Leroy Carver Parker, Jr., 80, Husband of Elaine Yonce Parker, entered into eternal rest Monday October 7, 2013.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday October 10, 2013 at 3 P.M. at Edgefield United Methodist Church with burial in Sunset Gardens Memorial Park in Edgefield.
Mr. Parker was born December 10, 1932 in Edgefield and was son of the late Mary DeLoach and Leroy Carver Parker, Sr. He attended Edgefield County Schools and was a graduate of Clemson College. Following graduation, he joined the United States Army and served during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Parker worked for the SC Dept. of Health and Environmental Control for 31 years. He was an active member of Edgefield United Methodist Church and served in numerous leadership capacities. He worked faithfully for the Whitten Center Parents Club, advocating for the needs of the mentally and physically challenged in Clinton, where his son Steven is a resident.
Mr. Parker loved the outdoors and spent many hours gardening and managing his forestry land. He gave much time and energy to the Edgefield Beaver Dam Creek Watershed Project and he was actively involved in the American Legion Hezzie Griffis Post # 30.
Survivors include his wife of 51 Years, his Children- Jennifer Parker, Julie (Russell) Wilkes, and Steven Parker; 1 Brother- Manly (Jean) Parker; 2 beloved grandchildren- Russ and Parker Wilkes.

The family is at the home and will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
