At their regularly scheduled monthly meeting, Administrator Al Harvey informed the Trenton Town Council that a loan in the amount of $100,00 was obtained from BB&T to go toward the purchase of a new fire truck for the town . The loan is for 10 years and has a 2.55% interest rate. While the first payment will not be due for another year, Administrator Harvey said it might be a good idea for the town to begin paying on the debt earlier.
As Trenton approaches approving a budget for 2014, Administrator Harvey said, “The town is in real good financial state.” He went on to say, “The outlook for next year looks good,” but cautioned that insurance will be going up “significantly.” Council is expected to take up the budget at their next scheduled meeting with a public hearing on it planned for the their November meeting.
Before adjourning, Council was reminded of the Fireman’s Family Night to be held Sept. 17th at 6:30.
