The public is cordially invited to the Old Edgefield District Genealogical Society meeting on Sunday, September 8, 2013 at 3:00 p. m. in the Lynch Building Annex of the Tompkins Library, Edgefield, SC.
Mr. Tim Lord will take you on a journey through time and events that led Colonial America to break its ties with Great Britain and establish a completely new form of government under the constitution guiding our lives and country today. Mr. Lord will start with events just prior to the French & Indian War in 1753 and show how events we may be familiar with on an individual basis were part of an overall sequence that not only changed America, but also the world. Mr. Lord will bring original newspapers from his collection to show how the “news of the day” covering these historic events were communicated to the people that lived through them and changed history to give us the freedom and democracy we enjoy today.
Mr. Lord grew up in Columbia SC and after high school attended the University of SC and Midlands Technical College majoring in Computer Science. While attending school he began working for Seibels, Bruce and Company and later a separate company known as Policy Management Systems Corp. Mr. Lord retired from PMSC with 31 years in 2000. He then started his own company, Contingency Planning & Outsourcing, Inc. (CPO). CPO has risen to a global company and today its software is being used in over 1,000 locations throughout the United States and around the world.
Refreshments will be served.
