The SC Department of Transportation closed Country Club Hills Drive from Gregory Lake Road to Mealing Road Thursday afternoon, June 6, due to damage sustain from recent rains.

According to a spokesperson with the SCDOT, the bridge on this road has been completely closed, and the road is open to local traffic only.  Detour signs are in place to re-route traffic in this area, but travelers for whom this is a customary route are encouraged to find an alternate route as the road is slated to be closed for at least a month.

UPDATE:

Several County Roads Affected by Recent Rains

As reported yesterday, the SCDOT closed the state maintained road, Country Club Hills Drive, from Gregory Lake Road to Mealing Road due to a damaged bridge as a result of the recent rains.  Today, The Advertiser has received a list of 5 county maintained roads that have sustained damage from the rains.  Two of those roads, Hidden Circle and Timberland Road, have already been repaired and are travel worthy once more.  Long Leaf Road saw property damage, but no road issues were reported.  Sweetwater Creek Drive is limited to one lane for travel as a portion of that road has been washed out.  Repairs to this road are slated to begin Monday.  The final road given, Mt. Zion Road, has received extensive damage, and the county recommends this road not be traveled.

The Advertiser will continue to follow the road closures and make updates as warranted.
