JOHNSTON, S.C. – Mrs. Gayla J. Sleister Easler, 57, of Johnston, beloved wife of Mr. Butch Easler, entered into rest on Wednesday, April 17, 2013.
Born at Ft. Gordon, GA, she was a daughter of Margie C. Blackmon, Graniteville, SC and the late Buford T. Newsome. She was a former video store owner. Gayla enjoyed reading, working word puzzles and was a movie as well as a history buff. She adored children, especially her grandchildren, Alexis Shaye Mitchell, Savannah Ashley Mitchell, Lindsey Easler and Tyler Easler.
In addition to her husband, parents and grandchildren, family members include her children, Samantha Coe, Augusta, GA and Winter Karen Mitchell, Aiken, SC; step-children, Lee (Theresa) Easler, Trenton, SC, Tony Dale Easler, Edgefield, SC, Lisa Easler, Spartanburg, SC and Debbie Easler, Spartanburg, SC and sisters, Cindy (Randy) McKee, Trenton, SC, Bonnie (Larry) Swint, Augusta, GA and Terri (Mike) Patrick, McCormick, SC.
In accordance with her wishes, Gayla was cremated and A Celebration of Life Service was held on Mon., April 22, at 3 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Jim Kirk officiating Memorials in her memory may be made to the Savannah River Cancer Foundation.
The family greeted friends Monday from 2 p.m. until the time of service at Hatcher Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Langley, SC.
