The Dollar General in Johnston was robbed by two men Friday night, Jan. 18, at approximately 9:30. Investigator Lamaz Robinson of the Johnston Police Department told The Advertiser in an interview that two men entered the store near closing and overpowered a clerk on the register. The two men then took the cash from the register and the drawer to the register and fled the scene. The clerk was reported to be unharmed. The incident was captured on the store’s surveillance video.
Inv. Robinson said one of the perpetrators of this crime has been identified, but his name is not being released at this time. However, Inv. Robinson did say he intends to charge the suspect with Strong Armed Robbery and Assault and Battery 1st Degree. Other charges may be forth coming. The second suspect in this crime has not yet been identified.
