The Johnston Development Corporation’s annual Community Christmas Lighting Ceremony gets bigger and better every year and that is due to the wonderful participation of our citizens and civic groups.
I want to thank Kenny Randall and the tremendous efforts of his Public works staff as well as Chief Chris Aston and his Police Department. Our Christmas tree, which was new to us last year, was redesigned this year and doubled the previous capacity of lights. The tree now displays 3600 LED lights. Thanks to Bill Cheatham and his students at the STHS Career Center for their work on the upgrading of our tree.
Especially I thank the participants in this year’s ceremony. From emcee Dean Campbell to Laura Herring and the JES chorus, from Bruce Lee and the JES students to STHS FCA student Miller Thompson, from the First Baptist quartet to Santa Claus, our ceremony was exceptional. Thank you also to the behind the scenes support staff of Calvin Henderson, Tony Baughman, Donna Livingston, Buddy English and my fellow JDC Board members and to the Town Council for their permission to use the Town facilities.
The event would not happen without the efforts of all of our local media and I appreciate the citizens who attended the ceremony.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the Johnston Development Corporation!!
