The Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office responded to a burglary call on Youngblood Road, Monday, Oct. 15. Upon arrival, deputies found that a flat screen television as well as a safe containing numerous firearms were missing.
While guns being stolen from county residences is, unfortunately, not a unique occurrence of late, this burglary was somewhat different in regards to damage done to the scene. In most of the other cases of stolen firearms, the homes have sustained very little, if any, damage. In this incident, however, the gun safe was ripped from the wall onto which it was bolted and drug across a newly installed hardwood floor. The wall and floor both received severe damage. The cost of the damage to the home has not yet been determined, but the items stolen were estimated to be worth nearly $3500.
This is an open investigation and the ECSO is asking anyone with information that may be relevant to this case to call 637-5337.
