SALUDA, S.C. – Prevo Bunyon “Pete” Rodgers, 68, of 169 Wightman Rd., died Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at Hospice Care of the Piedmont.
Born in Aiken County and a son of the late Prevo Bunyon Rodgers and Ethyleene Polatty Sharpton , he was the husband of Betty June Green Rodgers. He was a retired heavy equipment operator with Dogwood Hill Farm and was a former policeman in Ridge Spring. Mr. Rodgers formerly served with Rescue I and Fairfax Rescue and was a US Navy veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Betty June Green Rodgers of the home, four sons, Prevo Rodgers, Jr. (Lisa) of Saluda, Jason Rodgers (Kristi) of Saluda, Mark Stone of Florida and Donald Rodgers of Tennessee, three daughters, Darlene Tyree (Ed) of Lakeland, FL, Donna Blackston of Lexington and Debra Hunter of Ninety Six, two sisters, Patricia Goodman of Johnston and Marlin Berry of Saluda, thirteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
Mr. Rodgers was preceded in death by a daughter, Darlene Merchant.
A Graveside service will be held 1 p.m., Friday, September 28, 2012 at Dry Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Burton Campbell officiating.
