Deputies with the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office responded to an alarm at Pine Ridge Country Club in the early morning hours of Friday, July 6. Upon arriving at the scene, deputies spotted a man who fled the area on foot. A perimeter was established and the canine unit deployed, but the suspect alluded capture. However, his car was found at the club’s maintenance shop where he apparently pried open the door and broke into a drink machine stealing all of the money therein.
Steven Allen Rogers, 58 of Columbia, SC, is now being sought in connection to this crime. Rogers, who has an extensive criminal record dating back to his teens which includes, among other things, safe-cracking and other burglaries, was out on bail from Laurens County where he was charged with burglary on June 12. The ECSO has issued a warrant for Rogers arrest, charging him with Burglary in the 2nd degree.
Rogers is described as a white male standing 6’1” and weighing approximately 200 pounds. He has gray hair and is balding. Rogers was last seen wearing black pants and a tan shirt. It is not known if he is still in the Edgefield area. If you believe you have seen this man or have any information regarding this crime, please call the ECSO at 637-5337.
