Capped off by a tremendous fireworks display, the Edgefield Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation and the Town of Edgefield concluded the inaugural Edgefield Turkey Palooza with a thunderous bang before an estimated crowd of 2,500 people.
Despite the record heat of 106 degrees, the crowd turned out to support the Edgefield area, NWTF, and several local charities. The free community event included an archery range, dunk tank, air gun shooting, water slide from E.J. Express Inflatables, raffles, silent auctions and numerous other games.
“I think it ended up being a fantastic success, even with the extreme heat,” said Edgefield Chapter President Burt Carey. “We had about 140 volunteers from the community and NWTF step up to help with this event. It is just one way the NWTF gives back to the great Edgefield community. We want to thank everyone who came out to support this event, and we ask that you support our sponsors because they helped make this possible.”
The event was sponsored by Turkey Shoppe on Main, Wells Fargo, AB Beverage, Mossy Oak, Outdoor Cap Company, Countryside Trade Solutions, Henry Rifles, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Chevrolet, CenturyTalk, Nationwide Insurance, E.J. Express, WKSX 92.7 FM, WJBF Channel 6, InSite Mediacom, Nationwide Insurance, South Carolina DNR, LakeShirts, Montana Decoy, CarryLite Decoys, Gaylord Opryland Resort and Atlanta Braves.
