The Towns of Johnston and Edgefield will hold elections on Tuesday, April 3. In each of these Town Councils there is an incumbent. The following information may aid in getting voters to the precincts involved.
In Johnston, Ward 1 has two candidates vying for that seat. It was vacated by Buddy Smith when he retired this year from the Johnston Town Council. The two who are running are Terrence Culbreath and Calvin Felder, Sr. Readers have seen both of these men on the front page of The Edgefield Advertiser. To vote, citizens may go to the old Johnston gym, now the Johnston Elementary Gymnasium, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.
Two other Wards were up for re-election: Tyra Miller ran unopposed and will resume her place as representative of Ward 3. Frank Nicholson III is also unopposed and will resume his seat in Ward 5.
In Edgefield, there is one seat that has opposition. Scotty Burton is running against the incumbent Otis Yeldell Jr., in Ward 6. The polls will open at 7:00 a.m. The place to cast votes for these two is Edgefield Gym and the American Legion Hut. The polls close at 7:00 p.m.
Others seats that were up for re-election, but with no opposition, are Ward 2 and Ward 4, and the incumbents in those Wards are Jasper Lloyd and Herbert Yarborough, respectively.
